| The 360 Chronicles, Vol. 1 |
[22 Nov 2005|03:46am] |
So, the first 4 hours of my journey to acquire a 360 have been a total bust. The "hookup" I had failed. He would have been fire from his job had he pulled through. A chance I would have been willing to take, but not him.
I went to 3 stores at midnight.
Nothing.
My only chance now, to go to Target in an hour. Hopefully, I will be able to pull through there, just like when I got my first Xbox.
God willing, I'll be playing in three hours.

Haven't seen anyone post about it yet.... but Moustapha Akkad, producer of the "Halloween" movies, was killed in a suicide bombing while attending a wedding a few days ago. It's a sad day for horror movie dorks.

Head down, footsteps echoing. Brittle cold snapping at the face. Another echo (more footsteps?) behind. Turn your head. There's nothing there. An unmarked grave, a memory. It can't hurt you anymore. No one remembers.
Head down, footsteps echoing. Breath quickens, wind hurting your throat. No place to hide, no place to run. And they're all around you. Chanting, calling. You are home.
Fear the dark. Fear what you can't see, for it can see you. And when you are scared, remember.... we are all scared too.
Happy Halloween, everyone.

Michale Graves = Awesome. Show = Great.
My mind always draws blanks at this point. I get all fired up with things to say, and... *pop*.... out goes my brain.
I'm tired tonight. But I will probably not sleep. My better half is gone for the week, and it's hard on me. Christ, I'm one of those people.
Another beer gone, another 10 minutes gone by, and still *pop*...
Sam, I made a CD for you.... It's got the new Graves album, Leave's Eyes, Sonata Arctica (a Power Metal band), Rhapsody (think Iced Earth meets Therion), and some Moi Dix Mois. I'll bring it with me Sunday.
*pop*
EDIT: Livejournal just tried to tell me that my password was too easily guessable. I'll give 20 bucks to anyone who can guess my password and hack into my livejournal. :P

Ladies and gentlemen, fiends and ghouls of all ages, Halloween is upon us. And with Halloween, the horror rock bands are touring.
I am bouncing in my grave with good news!
Michale Graves is coming to Mishawaka! October 22. He's got a new band, and they're touring.
For those who don't know, Michale was the vocalist for the Misfits from 1996 'til about 2001 or so.
You bet your ass the little dead boy will be there!

Too much work = not fun.
Paycheck = Super rad.
Dunno if I'm goin' to Therion or not. Don't have anybody to go with. This makes Crypto sad. No biggie tho. It's been forever since I've been to a metal show, and I'm not entirely sure I'd remember how to act. Is my hair long enough to headbang with anyway? :P
Tired from all the work. 60 hour weeks suck it.

| Back and forth... |
[07 Sep 2005|01:57am] |
There is an interesting dichotomy somewhere here, but I cannot find it. All day, forced to take these innocent lumps and make them into some sort of militia, fighting for a dream that they don't even care for. And why should they? It was a dream invented by people twice their age with totally dissimilar agendas, wanting profit over peace, and economy over ecology.
Why should they listen to me? I'm just another tool. Another piece to be played in the battle for another slavering lunatic, another mindless job-bot. I'm no better than the crooked cop, or the laywer you have to pay before even a consultation. I'm just as bad as the bribe taking politician, or the contractor receiving kickbacks.
And why do I do it? For the same reasons. I want a better life. But I cannot figure out what to spend my newfound wealth on. A better life? It's true, but I cannot even imagine a better life. How can someone who has only known the worst of it imagine a better one? What, a place where my picnic DOESN'T get rained on? I refuse to believe.
Months of postponement (that's not spelled right, but I don't give a fuck). Years of waiting for my ship to come in. And now, the Titanic is here. I see it's bright future, it's promises waiting to take me away.
I told them the same things three times today, but they didn't even listen to me once. They all stared at me with their doe eyes, wondering if I'd ever shut up, wondering when they would get to go home. They just wanted to get paid. And I don't blame them.
I've become the man. And I curse myself every day for it.
I'm not unhappy. And I curse myself even more for that.
And so I sway.
EDIT: Don't look into the past. Sometimes the mirror gets dirty, and you see yourself in a good light. For example.... 8 years ago I was a true revolutionary, a punk rock harbinger of things to come. Now I wear a monkey suit. Sure, I make good money, but what morals have I sacrificed?
Think about that for a while. I'm gonna go do a shot of vodka. (Editor's Sidenote: Crypto HATES vodka)

[23 Aug 2005|09:07am] |
I went from working not enough to working too much.
I wake up. I go to work. I come back from work.
And that's my entire day.
I've got the worst schedule known to man most of the time (10 - 7), and nowadays, I'm so tired, I can't stay up much past 9 or 10. And the WORST part is, it doesn't seem like there's any improvement yet. I'm probably going to have this same shitty schedule for the next couple of months.
I've forgotten what my friends and loved ones look like.

I learned to not disregard a band just because they got on a bigger label. Many of you know of my beef with Roadrunner Records. Once one of the greatest death/heavy metal labels on the face of the planet, they hit it big with two "novelty" acts they signed: Slipknot and Nickelback. The rest is crap. Or so I thought....
Last year, Nightwish released their "Once" album on Roadrunner here in the US. For those of us who don't know, Nightwish is a Finnish goth metal band who's been kicking around on the Nuclear Blast/Century Media side of things for about 10 years or so. I won't say that they were one of my favorite bands, but I wouldn't change the station if there were on, so to speak.
When I saw they got released on Roadrunner, I sighed, and regretfully put the album back up on the music store shelf. As we all know, everything that Roadrunner touches nowadays turns to utter crap (Sorry for offending all you Roadrunner fans out there, but you listen to shitty music). I wanted to remember Nightwish in their gothrock heyday.
Fast forward to yesterday. I was at the library up in the A/V department looking for the new Clutch album (Thank you Maire, :P ). In my meanderings, I found "Once". I decided to give it a shot, mainly because getting cds from the library is free, and that's the right price for an album you're hoping doesn't suck.
This is one of the best albums I think I can ever remember hearing. Rarely does an album bring a tear to my eyes, and I'll admit it: I outright bawled when "Wish I Had and Angel" came on. Hell, I'm gettin' misty eyed thinkin' about it right now. This cd has everything you could want, great guitar, awesome vocals and melodys, it's aggressive, but still melancholy....
BUY THIS ALBUM!!!!! I will be
(Note to Joe & Sam --- They use live orchestra on some songs, so it's kinda like Therion light)
In other news... other awesome Goth Metal bands people should check out
Asgaard After Forever Leave's Eyes Darkwell
That is all....

Heh... so I got a job interview today for a management position at a new restaurant that's opening in town soon. It means better pay, better hours... and hopefully better well being for Corey (work has been stressing me out a little lately). I'm just tired of getting passed up for things at work. Seems to me like the people they've been promoting from the company are idiots, and I could do so much better than they could. *shrug*
At any rate, I got an awesome shirt and checkerboard tie to wear to the interview... I'll post pictures of super snazzy Corey as soon as I get some. :P

So the Supreme Court ruled that P2P sharing is a violation of copyright law.... Hrm...
Hey, Sam... can I borrow a cd from you? Think carefully, 'cuz if you do, under this precedent, the record companies can sue you.
This means that ANY sort of program where file sharing is allowed is now illegal. Which in turn means that your email host can be sued for copyright infringement. Which in turn means big brother is breathin' down heavier on your neck than ever before.
I've got a plan to get around this. But that means I'll have to start coding again. Which is going to be a pain in the butt. Basically, if I invent a P2P program that converts all files into .bin files before sharing, everything should be okay. Sure, the music companies have the copyrights on the music, but do they own the copyright on the actual ones and zeroes that make up the music? Only one way to find out.... hrm.
On a lighter note, the new Balzac album is really good... some slow spots, but oh well... and I STILL don't have the new Misfits album yet... no one around here seems to have it, and I'm super pissed... MUST HAVE....
Sam, we're prolly goin' bowling later tonight. You guys up for goin' mebbe?

Well the good news is, I finally got Reason 3.0, so I'll be able to create music again.
The BAD news is, I don't have a MIDI controller, so I can't use Reason 'till I get one.
I hate you God.
On a brighter note, Land of the Dead was the shit.
